Cayuga
Productions was founded by Rod and Carol Serling to produce "The
Twilight Zone". It was named after Cayuga Lake, one of the Finger
Lakes in West-Central New York state, where the Serlings had a vacation
cabin. The Finger Lakes were so named by the Indians because they are
long and narrow, running North to South. They appear to have been clawed
out of the earth by the fingers of a giant hand. The Cayuga Productions
offices were located at MGM while "The Twilight Zone" was being
produced. The series ran from 1959 - 1964. After "The Twilight Zone"
ended, the company still retained its 50% interest in the series. Serling
later sold his interest in "The Twilight Zone" to CBS for a
small sum, thinking it would never be profitable. Rod Serling later formed
Interlaken Productions to produce the television series "The Loner."
Rod Serling was born in Syracuse, NY on December 25, 1924.
